Hey guys,
I've had this idea in my head and would like to get a few opinions on it.
It all started when I learned that a friend of mine has access to a CNC machine. I asked myself: Why do we all mount our Brackets under our Boards when we could mount them on top of them. It would shave of at least a 1,5 centimeters of standing height.
So I taught myself the basics of 3D-design and got to work.

Front Bracket
Rear Bracket
Playing around a bit with my Board taught me two things:
1. The Wheelbase is lenghtened by 10 centimeters if one wants to keep the same space for the feet.
1. The Wheelbase is lenghtened by 10 centimeters if one wants to keep the same space for the feet.
2. The flex increases dramatically.
Problem number one is partly solved by turning the back truck around. The rear bracket is designed like all 0° rear Trucks with the twist that the hanger is not rotated in order not to gain 5cm of Wheelbase. The wideness of the bracket is compensated by "hanger wells". Not visible: Bushing seat and mounting point for the spherical are both sunk in a few millimeters.
Problem number two is handeled in two ways: First the hardware will be inserted the other way around. Hence the big radial cutouts where the holes are. Secondly I will have to learn to reinforce my decks with glass fibre.
But then I had another Idea. If I have access to a CNC machine, why not drop the entire bracket?
So I got to work again.
Rear Bracket V2
This would save the headache of increased flex.
Dear Skatefurther People:
I'm looking forward to the discussion.
- What are your opinions on both ideas?
- Has anyone tried anything like this before?
- Is there anyone knowledgeable about material science or the alike in here and can tell me wheter this would hold up?
I'm looking forward to the discussion.
And I would like to appologise for any spelling and grammar mistakes I´ve made. English is not my first language.
