Hey Guys,
I'm Phillip "Pip" from Lakeland Florida. I skated the Miami Ultra earlier this year on a team...the non-dutch team LOL. I was blown away by the amazing athletes of all ages/genders. I'm 50 yrs old and plan on doing the 2018 Miami ultra solo, and with any luck I'll be at the 2018 Dutch Ultra. I started as a land paddler but after the Miami Ultra I was determined to learn to push with both feet...mission accomplished! It's an amazing feeling being able to push/pump for hours. I love this sport and the people I meet along the way.

Hey Phillip. Welcome to the forum. 50 isa propergood age to get into skating distance. Suuper jealous of you getting going on both feet - totally my aim this summer. Skate further! Thanks. I was so inspired at the the ultra and just made the commitment to ditch the land paddle (nothing wrong with it) and learned to skate mongo. I looked aweful and probably made a fool of myself, but the little bit of practice everyday paid off. It's actually very liberating to have your hands free and trading off between both feet...great feeling. My avatar is a pic of me at this years ultra... Ah I recognise that picture. I'm not a fan of the old land paddle thing.. never have been. Even mongo is a bit odd in my eyes but i am going to master it this summer. Set myself a target for sure. Summer is on its way down here so im getting more stoked for distance!
