I have one that I use for bike commuting to work. I have not tried it skating since I mainly skate on paved trails...i just use my Rudy bike helmet. It is a bit heavier than other (non illuminated) helmets, but it's the price you pay for being that much safer. I'll try in on my early morning skates (approx 10 miles) and let you know how my neck feels afterwards as compared to my Rudy helmet. More to come...

I have been using my Lumos helmet on my bike commutes to work. With the time change (daylight savings time) here in the US I'm riding in dawn ,dusk, and in dark conditions. I can now say this is the best $200 I've ever spent on a helmet. With the flashing lights LED (white) in front and red triangle in the rear, the Lumos helmet is bright and gets noticed very quickly. Also while cycling on the streets, drivers (generally) take extra care when passing. It's like they show more respect because of the helmet. It's especially helpful at large intersections when using the turn signal...gets the atention of most, if not all drivers. Fo Cycling I give the Lumos 5 stars! If I was skateboard commuting, I would feel just as confident that the Lumos would get noticed as well. I have not used the Lumos for recreational or long distance skating since I generally skate on paved pedestrian trails and use a cycling helmet that weights a few grams lighter. If you spend a lot of time in traffic either cycling or skating or both I would not hesitate to recommend the Lumos. It's a great investment in your safety.

Pip, would you like to write something up about your experiences with the lumos? Maybe go for a skate with it and give us your views? We will get it up in the review section and on the front page as well.
